Full Description

Sunshell is a sun cover built specifically for babywearing — not a blanket repurposed for the job.

Most parents end up improvising: draping a regular blanket over the carrier, watching it slip with every step, stopping to readjust it while trying to actually get somewhere. Sunshell was designed to solve that specific problem, not work around it. It pairs a soft 100% cotton muslin outer with a stretchy UPF 40+ rated lining, cut to sit properly over a structured carrier and stay there.

The cover secures with a single strap across the back and adjustable snap loops in front, so it goes on in seconds rather than requiring a diagram. Built-in elastic leg loops on the inside hold everything in place through wind and movement, so you're not stopping every few minutes to fix it. Adjustable straps mean it isn't built around one specific carrier brand — it's designed to fit structured, buckle-style carriers generally, so it moves with you if your carrier ever changes.

This isn't meant to be an all-purpose accessory. It's built around one specific moment — a baby worn close, outside, in the sun — the same way a good carrier is built around carrying, not around doing five other things adequately.

For fabric care and washing instructions, see Materials & Care below. For carrier compatibility details, see Fit & Compatibility.

Materials and Care

Sunshell has a 100% cotton muslin outer and a UPF 40+ rated stretch lining, finished with adjustable cotton straps, snap closures and elastic interior leg loops.

Materials:

  • Outer: 100% cotton
  • Lining: 80% nylon, 20% spandex (UPF 40+, rated by our fabric supplier)
  • Straps: cotton, with snap closures
  • Elastic interior leg loops
  • Imported / Made in China

Care instructions:

  • Machine wash cold, gentle cycle
  • Line dry or tumble dry on low
  • Do not bleach
  • Do not iron directly on strap hardware
Fit and Compatability

Sunshell is designed to fit structured, buckle-style front carriers — the kind with padded straps and a buckle or clip closure system. Adjustable straps allow it to fit across a range of structured carrier brands and sizes, rather than being built for one specific model.

Sunshell is not designed for soft wrap-style carriers (fabric wraps tied around the body), since these already provide their own coverage and Sunshell's attachment system isn't built for that shape.

Recommended for babies 0–12 months, and continues to fit as long as your baby fits comfortably in a structured front carrier — for many families, that extends toward the 18–24 month range depending on the carrier and child.

Safety & Use
  • Always keep your baby’s face visible and airflow unobstructed while using Sunshell.
  • Check your baby frequently for signs of overheating, especially in warm weather, and remove the cover if your baby seems too warm.
  • A caregiver must supervise your baby at all times while the cover is in use. Never leave your baby unattended.
  • Use only with structured, buckle-style front carriers, and follow your carrier manufacturer’s instructions and age/weight guidelines.
  • Inspect the straps, snaps and elastic loops before each use. Stop using the cover if any part is loose, worn or damaged.
  • Sunshell is a sun cover, not a substitute for other sun safety measures. Follow your pediatrician’s guidance on sun exposure for your baby’s age.

I love my sunshell cover!! The fabric is high quality and the design is so thoughtful. We love the leg loops and clip in the back to keep the cover in place, even on a windy day. The material is cool, my baby did not overheat. Definitely a must have for our Florida adventures. If you’re thinking of getting one, do it, you won’t regret it!
