Does this work with my carrier?
Sunshell is designed to fit structured, buckle-style front carriers — the kind with padded straps and a buckle or clip closure. Adjustable straps allow it to fit across a range of structured carrier brands and sizes, rather than being built for one specific model. It is not designed for soft wrap-style carriers, since those already provide their own coverage. Not sure if it'll fit yours? Contact us before ordering and we're happy to help you check.
What ages/sizes does it fit?
Sunshell is recommended for babies 0–12 months, and continues to fit as long as your baby fits comfortably in a structured front carrier — for many families, that extends toward the 18–24 month range depending on the carrier and child.
Will my baby overheat?
Sunshell is constructed from a lightweight 100% cotton muslin outer and a thin UPF 40+ rated stretch lining, designed with airflow and breathability in mind. It's built to sit close without adding heavy layering. As with any sun-protective gear — hats, stroller shades, clothing — we recommend checking on your baby regularly while outdoors, dressing them appropriately for the weather, and following normal outdoor safety guidance for their age.
Is this safe for newborns?
Sunshell is designed for babies from birth through their first year in a structured carrier. As with any babywearing accessory, we recommend following your carrier manufacturer's own newborn guidelines, and checking with your pediatrician if you have specific concerns about your baby's individual needs.
How does it attach?
Sunshell secures with a single strap across the back and adjustable snap loops in front. Built-in elastic leg loops on the inside help hold it in place through wind and movement. The whole process takes seconds once you've done it the first time.
Can I wash it?
Yes — machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, and line dry or tumble dry on low. Full care instructions are also included on the sewn-in label.(See Materials & Care on the product page for complete details.)
When will I get my order?
We will work quickly to ship your order as soon as possible. Once your order has shipped, you will receive an email with further information. Delivery times vary depending on your location.
What is your return policy?
We want you to love your Sunshell cover. If it's not right for you, we accept returns within 30 days of delivery, as long as the item is unworn, unwashed, and in its original condition with tags attached. To start a return, contact us at hello@sunshellbaby.com with your order number. Return shipping is free— we'll send you a prepaid label.
